Everest Three Passes Trek Faqs

  • What makes this different from the usual Everest Base Camp trek?
It adds three high passes and the Gokyo valley to the Everest Base Camp route. Longer walking days, glacier terrain, and sustained altitude make it considerably more demanding.
  • Which passes are included?
Kongma La, Cho La, and Renjo La, all above 5,300 m. Their crossing order in this itinerary is Kongma La, Cho La, then Renjo La.
  • Does the package include Everest Base Camp and Gokyo?
Yes. It includes Everest Base Camp, Kala Patthar, and Gokyo. The Gokyo Ri hike is optional and depends on health and conditions.
  • Is this a climbing expedition?

It is a high-altitude trekking route rather than a summit expedition. Nevertheless, snow, ice, steep ground, and glacier sections can make it serious. Route and equipment decisions depend on actual conditions.

  • Can beginners join?
Prior multi-day trekking experience is strongly recommended. Tell us about your fitness and hiking history so we can assess suitability or recommend a less demanding route.
  • Why is this package 22 days?

It includes acclimatization stops, a shorter stage before Cho La, a second night in Gokyo, and a Kathmandu flight contingency day rather than compressing the major objectives.

  • Are flights and permits included?
Yes, scheduled return Lukla flights, required airport transfers, and the permits specified in your confirmed quotation are included. Helicopter alternatives and additional delay costs are excluded.
  • What happens if a pass is closed?
Your guide may delay, reroute, or omit a crossing. Health and local conditions determine the workable route; completing every advertised objective cannot be guaranteed.
  • Can I book a private departure?
Yes, subject to guide availability, flight seats, and conditions. The itinerary and hotel choices can be customized, with a quotation based on your preferences.
  • Are fixed departures available?

Contact us for actual available group dates. No fixed dates are assumed in this package.

  • What insurance do I need?
Your policy should explicitly cover trekking to at least 6,000 m, this route’s high passes and glacier terrain, emergency evacuation, and medical treatment.
  • Can I shorten the trek?

A shorter version can be discussed for experienced, fit trekkers, but removing acclimatization time is not a routine shortcut. A two-pass or Gokyo–EBC itinerary may better match a shorter holiday.
