Island Peak, also known locally as Imja Tse, is one of Nepal’s best-known trekking peaks. It is a natural progression for adventurous trekkers who want to experience Himalayan mountaineering.
Starting from Lukla, the route passes through Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche and Dingboche before leaving the main Everest trail for the Imja Valley, Chhukung and Island Peak Base Camp.
Rather than rushing directly towards the mountain, the programme includes several opportunities to acclimatize. A dedicated preparation period is also included so that the climbing guide can review equipment, conditions and the techniques needed for the summit attempt.
The high point of the journey is the attempt to reach the 6,189-metre summit, surrounded by the spectacular mountains of the Khumbu.
